The Telkom School of Computing won the 2017 Telemedicine Innovation Challenge (TIC)

The Telemedicine Innovation Challenge (TIC) 2017 is a series of Telemedicine Conference 2017 events, Monash University Malaysia. TIC is intended to provide a platform for innovators from both industry and universities to demonstrate their innovations in the health sector. This activity has entered its third year with participants from several countries in ASEAN.
Telkom University, with Dr. mentor Satria Mandala, managed to enter the final at the event through 2 teams, namely: KnocKnock and Rhythm.

The KnocKnock Team in the area by Januar Triandy Nur Elsan, with members: Muhammad Hilmy An Nabhany, Asya Leztizia, Agung Cahya Ilhami, and Qhansa Di’Ayu Putri Bayu presented a prototype To-Do Diet. Rhythm team led by Ihda Husnayain with members: Bayu Rizky Ramadhan, Fiona Ramadhani Senduk, Abdul Rahman Safari, and Dani Agung Prastiyo brought a prototype “PVC’s monitoring and detection system” at the event.

The KnocKnock team carries the “To-Do Diet” project, a Kinect-based system for obesity therapy that aims to monitor patients and motivate patients to treat obesity diets. Rhythm’s team brought the “PVC’s monitoring and detection system” project, a system for monitoring and detecting abnormalities of PVC heart rate rhythms / Premature ventricular contractions. PVC is one type of arrhythmia that can cause sudden death if left unchecked.

The final TIC event lasts for 3 days, which is August 15-17 2017, and each team is required to make a 1-minute video and make a poster for the prototype they carry. During the competition, each team is required to open a booth to promote and showcase the prototypes made by the finalist team. Everyday Judges will come to assess the performance of each team, both in terms of technical, future business plans and visitor responses to the prototype that we carry. The series of peak judgments is pitching about the prototype on stage for 5 minutes. Here again, the judges (6-10 judges from various countries) will test the team in front of the entire TIC 2017 audience.

There is an interesting experience gained by teams from Telkom University. Some visitors from industries, such as NFC Labs, offer cooperation and investment for the prototypes we have made. And both teams also get appreciation as a team with the best pitching from visitors.

In the awarding session on August 17, 2017, the Telkom University KnocKnock Team won 1st place in the “Most Innovative e-Health Solution” category. We dedicate this champion as a prize for the independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

The committee also congratulated on the 72nd Independence Day at the closing of the Telemedicine Conference 2017. We hope that Indonesia, especially Telkom University, will participate and perform more internationally.
