School of Computing students won ITFest 3.0 2019

The Mojang team from Telkom University cheered when announcing the ITFEST 3.0 2019 competition on March 16-17 2019 because it won 1st place in the UI / UX Design category. The event which was held by the Informatics Technology Student Association (HIMATIF) of the University of North Sumatra was a competition in the field of information and communication technology at the level of students throughout Indonesia.

The team consisting of Asni Januariski and Rita Ajeng Nugraheni are S1 Informatics Engineering students, Telkom University-Bandung. In the match, the Mojang Team raised a problem that referred to one of the ethics in Indonesia, namely the culture of queuing.

“By conducting a survey on the existing data and the Design Sprint method, we spark the idea for an application that we named” Qoda.” Qoda is a mobile-based application that will help users to queue with several features provided including the selection of queuing places, queue times, place reservations, service length estimates, and can monitor the latest queue conditions, and provide notifications for queue reminders “, obviously Asni.

The competition in the UI / UX Design category itself is a system/product interface design competition that is oriented to the comfort and convenience of users in using the system/product. This competition consists of 3 (three) stages, namely the proposal submission stage, the video submission stage, and the final stage. The theme of this competition is “Ethical Living With Tech.”

For the sake of competition, the Mojang Team has prepared itself carefully. The product proposal and video must be made to be presented and then demonstrated the prototype.

“We have prepared this competition carefully in a few months. We hold intensive meetings for 1 (one) full day per week to prepare for this competition. The proposals we made for this competition included product titles, abstracts, background problems, objectives and results to be achieved, methods of achieving goals, analysis of work designs (target users, product boundaries, platforms used, product design use scenarios, navigation, architecture information, wireframe), methods and results of user testing, conclusions, bibliography and supporting attachments in the form of poster designs from Qoda, “said Rita.

“For the competition, we made a prototype that was presented in the form of a high-fidelity product prototype using a tool called” Figma.” We also prepare video clips of 2 (two) minutes for the final and 4 (four) minutes to upload on YouTube containing the issues raised, data and introduction to the “Qoda” application. In the final, we made a presentation and demonstrated the prototype of the “Qoda application,” closed Asni.

The ITFEST 3.0 2019 competition has a theme “Integrated Creation For Society” with a series of activities consisting of exhibitions of finalists’s work, seminars on current topics in the field of ICT, and entertainment. This competition has 6 (six) categories, namely Competitive Programming, Application Development, Business IT Case, UI / UX Design, e-Sport, and IT-Sport.
