School of Computing Carried Out E-commerce Practice for Indonesian Beginners

School of Computing carried out a community services entitled “E-commerce Practice for Indonesian Beginners” to APMP members in Padalarang on May 16th 2019. APMP or Asosiasi Pengusaha Muda Parahyangan is an association of rookie businessmen in villages of West Java Province. This event is a continuation of a previous event where the same team implemented an information system to help APMP give guidance to tourists in Pangandaran, West Javas most famous beach.

There was a high enthusiasm in welcoming the event. The local event organizer stated that there were 100 more members who enlisted to the event. The event was held at the third floor of MUTIFcorp building on Jl. Raya Padalarang. As the faculty’s organizer saw, the venue was fully occupied.

The community service was carried out in one day. It started from 09.00 a.m. and ended at 03.00 p.m. The practice given on the community service event was divided in four different sessions. The first session was titled “Trends of Indonesian e-commerce in Industri 4.0 era”. The faculty felt that digitalization era is an important era in which if considered as a tide wave, it is an inevitable type of tide wave. So harnessing the wave is a more fruitful solution than resisting it.

The second topic was entitled “Technology and Important Elements of E-commerce”. The vision of the faculty is that, after giving the real condition of Indonesia’s e-commerce, it is important to pass on the knowledge of how to create an effective and efficient e-commerce. In this topic, it is provided that there are several kinds and levels of e-commerce and there are two additional key elements, that is, payment and logistics.

The third and fourth topic was about hands on. In the third session, the faculty provided experienced practitioners with achievements to carry out their success story and give insight in how to build a practical e-commerce. In the final session, audiences were invited to create a simple online shop with one of Indonesian’s well known market place.

It can be said that the event ended on a high note with high enthusiasm within the audience to carry on the object. Talks have begun between each party to continue the training with further interesting and useful subjects in the future.
