The School of Computing Telkom University held an IoT Training for Cimahi Vocational High School 1
The obligation of Higher Education does not only provide education but also is responsible for carrying out other functions, namely research and community service. The three responsibilities are known as the Tridharma of Higher Education. As part of the Tridharma, the Telkom School of Computing Telematics Telecommunications Research Group organized a community service program for teachers and students of Cimahi Vocational High School 1. Community service is the activity of academicians who utilize Science and Technology to advance people’s welfare and educate the life of the nation.
The community service event held on August 2, 2018, at the School of Computing Telematics Lab was given an Internet of Things (IoT) training material which was needed by Cimahi Vocational High School 1 for the teaching and learning process at the school. The content provided includes the basic concepts of the internet of things, microcontrollers, Arduino, nodemcu, sensors, actuators, and Thisngspeak as well as the practice of the concepts that have been conveyed before.
The trainees numbered twenty people with a composition of eight teachers and twelve students. They come from three different study programs, namely Transmission Engineering, Computer Networking Engineering, and Industrial Electronics. One of the representatives of the participants who was also the Chair of the Electronic Study Program, Drs. Deni Ogan Alibasah, MT, said that the training provided was beneficial, especially to prepare particular subjects about IoT in SMK 1 Cimahi.
