Telkom Open Library Becomes Partner of Asia Foundation for Books for Asia Program
BANDUNG, TEL-U – Telkom Open Library was chosen to be the trusted partner of the Asia Foundation for the distribution of contemporary English-language books and academic journals to universities throughout West Java and Banten.
“In the beginning, we were chaotic because initially, each institution only took supplies at the Asia Foundation headquarters in Indonesia. Because the books that were shared were very much, we finally were hugely helped by our collaboration with Telkom Open Library in the distribution of this book in West Java, “said Book Program Officer for Asia in Indonesia, Aryasatyani Sintadewi.
The statement of the woman who was familiarly called Shinta was revealed on the sidelines of the 2nd Regular Meeting of the Higher Education Library Forum Seminar and Workshop throughout West Java and Banten, which was held in the Multimedia Room of Telkom University Learning Center Building, Wednesday (04/06).
According to him, a significant desire and dream for the Asia Foundation where every student in the world has access to books that inspire them to develop their full potential.
“Universities throughout Indonesia lack the latest and highest quality information resources. The Books For Asia program helps address this need by providing books and texts from various scientific disciplines including economics, finance, law, environment, political science, and anthropology to state and private higher education institutions throughout Indonesia, “he said.
In 2011, Books for Asia had donated more than 35,000 quality books in English to various universities in Indonesia. In 2014 this time Telkom University was chosen as a Partner by the Asia Foundation to distribute the books to multiple universities in West Java and Banten.
Meanwhile, Head of Library Section Nyoman Bogi Aditya K. ST. MSEE said the Books for Asia Program is actually in line with the Telkom Open Library mission. “We join hands with other librarians and help distribute books to those who need them.” (Purel/PH/azzah)
