Community Service of the School of Computing “Flood Care”
Bandung, SOC – The existence of floods that hit the city of Bandung, especially the southern part of Bandung Regency, made the academics of the School of Computing, Telkom University moved to carry out humanitarian actions “Caring for the Flood.” In collaboration with the Disaster Response Agency of Telkom University (a combination of several student units) and related village structures, the School of Computing provides necessary food assistance and cleaning equipment to flood victims on Thursday (01/29/2015).
The School of Computing group consisting of Dana Kusumo, Shaufiah, Hasmawati, and Widi left for Bale Endah Subdistrict, Andir Village, precisely in Parung Halang Village, Ciputat Village, and Cibadak Village. Every year the Bale Endah Sub-District whose location is indeed close to the Telkom University Campus becomes a flood customer. “But in 2014, the floods got worse and the affected areas also expanded,” Shaufiah said. Most of the profiles of the people in the flood area are the middle to lower classes who need help, “he continued.
The provision of assistance is part of the Tridarma of Higher Education, which is to carry out the activities of utilizing science, technology, management and art for the advancement of national welfare and civilization or commonly known as community service. Concern for society and the environment is the goal of this activity. “With the distribution of this aid, it is expected that flood victims can be helped and through this activity, it is hoped that it can foster empathy for others,” he concluded.
