Lebaran Homecoming Through the Sea Path, Why Not ??
For those of you who every year always travel back and forth, especially through the sea, such as to the island of Sumatra, you do not need to worry about getting stuck on the road or maybe waiting in a long time for the arrival of the ferry. Now an application has been created that can monitor ship schedules, find out information on ports, or places of public facilities around the Port. You can even watch the traffic conditions before reaching the port (Merak toll). This application was created by our friends from the School of Computing, Telkom University. They are Yusza, Anwar Sadab, and Kurniawan.
The application that is planned to be launched on Monday (07/21/2014) is a collaboration between the School of Computing, Telkom University and the Ministry of Transportation, the Directorate General of Marine Affairs. This application is given the name “ Port Merak Management Center (PMMC) i> b>” said Yusza. Yusza added that currently the new PMMC application could be used in Bakauheni-Merak Port, it does not rule out the possibility that in the future it will be extended to other ports such as Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta.
The PMMC application consists of 7 features. The first feature regarding the ship’s schedule. In this feature, the user can see the real-time ship departure schedule. The second feature is the port information. In this feature, the user can see the interactive map of the port. The third feature is the CCTV. In this feature, the user can see a video that contains the situation of the pier in Merak. However, if the user has difficulty accessing CCTV, for example, due to the web buffer, there is another feature called Vehicle Management System (VMS). This feature provides an overview of traffic on the Merak Toll in the form of text in the form of a red line, which means traffic jam and yellow line, which means smooth.
The next feature is Tracking i> Real-time i> Ships. This feature will show the user estimated real-time ship arrival. You can see the approximate distance and time. Besides, in this application, there is also an Information About Harbor feature. In this feature, users can see public facilities around the Merak Port, such as prayer rooms, terminals, snack shops, etc. Employees of the Crossing Port Authority (OPP) can also monitor the number of 2-wheeled, 4-wheeled, bus, and truck vehicles entering the Port. Not to be missed, this application also provides a port plan and a homecoming map.
