Realizing the School of Computing Vision "Becoming a World-Class Faculty"

Bandung, SOC – Tuesday (10/02/2015), the Telkom University Leadership Meeting was held again. This time, it was the turn of the School of Computing to host it. Located in Panambulai Building, 3rd Floor, the Tel-U Leadership Meeting took place warmly.

This time the Tel-U Leadership Meeting was special. Collaboration with Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) 46 will be given symbolically in this event. Money worth Rp. 15 million is given BNI 46 for environmental development at Telkom University.

“This activity is part of BNI’s CSR in the form of an environmental development program,” said Mariani.

The symbolic form of participation is given by the Head of Business Banking of the Bandung Regional BNI Office, Mariani, to the Tel-U Chancellor, Prof. Mochamad Ashari, M. Eng., Ph.D.

Following the purpose of its use, Tel-U utilizes this fund to purchase trash bins spread over the Tel-U area. Each trash can consists of organic and inorganic waste.

In addition to the collaboration agenda, at the Leadership Meeting this time, the School of Computing congratulated Prof. Mochamad Ashari, as the Chancellor of Tel-U because he succeeded in getting the 96th rank of Scientists in Indonesia in the Webometrics version. The event was marked by Thanksgiving with ‘Potong tumpeng’ by the Chancellor.

The next program was the presentation of the Dean of the School of Computing, Dr. Maman Abdurohman. Following the School of Computing’s 2014-2018 strategic plan to bring and realize a world-class School of Computing that plays an active role in the development of information technology-based Computing science in 2018, the School of Computing is currently developing a Value Broadcast SMS application. Value Broadcast SMS is an application that aims to send Study Progress Sheets to parents of students. At present, parents of students still receive it in the form of hard copy, which requires a greater effort and also costs are not small.

“It is expected that with this application, parents can learn about the progress of their children’s studies regularly,” Dr. Maman.

“Besides, the School of Computing is also establishing International Journal on ICT (IJoICT) material which has been published up to now in December 2014,” he continued.

As for the future, the School of Computing aims to open international classes by cooperating with several overseas partners, such as Magdeburg University-Germany, Kumoh Inst. Tech., – Sout Korea, Saxion University, Netherlands, University of South Australia-Australia, and Multimedia University-Malaysia.
“This is done to realize academic excellence, in addition to proposing a new Study Program, namely the Bachelor of Information Technology that is in the process”, he continued.

And for this close target, to prepare the accreditation forms in June 2015, we need the support of the entire Tel-U academic community, “Dr. Maman.
