23 Countries Join the 2014 International Conference on ICT
Bandung, Tel-U – The growth of ICT in Indonesia continues to rise. This is a factor supporting economic growth in Indonesia, which grows by 4-5 percent annually. That was what the Chancellor of Telkom University explained, Prof. Ir. Mochamad Ashari, M.Eng., Ph.D., at the opening of the 2014 International Conference on ICT (ICoICT) at the Grand Royal Panghegar Hotel Ballroom, Bandung, Wednesday (05/28) yesterday.
He said that ICoICT was held as a series of the first Telkom University Anniversary event. “As a series of the first Telkom University Anniversary, the 2014 ICOICT was held to bring up innovative ideas and prototypes in the ICT field,” he said in his speech.
As many as 23 countries around the world have sent papers relating to the theme of the 2014 ICoICT, namely Internet of Things (IoT): Infrastructure, Computation, and Its Application. “We the committee received scientific papers from 23 countries in the world including Asia, Europe, and America,” explained Dadee Nurjanah, Ph.D., Chair of the 2014 ICoICT. According to him, the ICoICT which has been held twice since 2013 is intended as a means for practitioners and scientists to be able to share their ideas and research results. And it will be useful for ICT development in the future.
In the opening of the 2014 ICoICT, there was also Kuncoro Wastu Wibowo, Chair of the IEEE Indonesia Section. He mentioned that per the 2014 ICoICT, namely IoT, it would be useful to answer the global challenges in the ICT field. In his remarks, he said, “IoT is the ability to connect information with other information. The problem now is how the general public can use the information in an ethical and right way and feel the positive impact of ICT development. ”
The International Conference took place from Wednesday (05/28) to Friday (05/30). During the event, participants will take part in discussions and focus group discussions (FGD) with tutors and panelists. Also, there are keynote speakers present at the 2014 ICoICT namely Prof. Jin Mitsugi, with the theme “Advancements of Automatic Identification Technology” and Prof. Teddy Mantoro with the theme “IoT: Emerging Trend of Sensing, Computing and Communication.” (Purel/DH)
