2014 Cyber Defense Competition
BANDUNG, SOC-Telkom University – The Anthurium team from the School of Computing Telkom University won the 2nd Winner of the General Category at the 2014 Cyber Defense Competition held on Thursday – Friday (8-9/5) in Surabaya.
Cyber Defense Competiton is one of the prestigious events in the field of network security, which includes Computer Forensic, Computer Network Defense, Capture the Flag and Penetration Testing. The Indonesian Ministry of Defense held the competition and supported by the Indonesia Security Incident Response Team on Internet Infrastructure (ID-SIRTII) as Technical implementer, Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association, PANDI, Nawala, Inixindo, INDOCISC, ITS, and ITB.
According to the Chair of the Anthurium Team, Azwar Al Anhar, the competition consisted of 2 sessions, namely offline and online. The online stage starts from 12-15 February 2014 with a gradual selection in different regions, namely Sumatra, Jawa and Madura, Bali and Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan and Sulawesi, and Maluku and Papua.
“The online competition was held in their respective places, while offline took place at the Surabaya Moro Naval Academy Surabaya on Thursday and Friday,” he said.
In addition to Azwar, this team consists of 3 students from the School of Computing and an Electrical Faculty-student who is in a laboratory. They are Viandika Fauzi, Ardian Septa Nugraha, Chandra Mahendra Putra, and Hengky Yudha Bintara.
The competition judges are professionals and IT Security practitioners who are known to be reliable in their fields. The total jury was 13 people, including Mr. Budi Rahadjo (ITB) and Mr. Hariadi who represented the fields of academics, BPPT (Mr. Hamam Riza, APJII (Mr. Irvan Nasrun, Mr. Semi), PANDI (Mr. Andi Budimansyah), Newsletters and ID -SIRTII / CC, etc.
Online elimination participants with 88 teams spread throughout Indonesia based on Regional and final participants consisting of 29 teams comprised of: 15 general teams (12 teams through online selection, defending champion teams, and 2 committee invitation teams), 5 student teams (via online selection) and 9 teams from members of the Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the Ministry of Defense which are grouped into general categories.
The Anthurium team is a team of 5 members of the Comsys Lab under the auspices of the School of Computing which was established in late 2013. The team is dedicated to participating in the competition in the field of Telematics, especially in the Security section. This team, previously called YOLO, won the 2nd overall champion and champion of the Forensic category at the 2013 Cyber Champion Competition. With the change of one of the Team members, the team’s name changed to Anthurium. The first competition event to be attended was ICFC (International Cyber Forensic Competition) in December 2013 and won the 3rd place.
